Hi, I am Luke James.
Having a grandad and a dad who both had a passion for photography meant that for me being in front & behind some sort of camera was the norm from an early age. I was about 10 when I got my first digital camera and was blown away with being able to see what I had photographed instantly!
While I was drawn towards landscape photography mostly in the beginning, it is wedding photography that I enjoy the most! I love the challenge, the reactions from couples seeing their images for the first time, and I love having that responsibility of documenting a couples love story on the beginning of the rest of their lives.
When Im photographing a wedding I want to capture all the important special moments as they happen, all the little details that you have put so much time and effort into planning and represent them in images that conjure up those emotions and feelings as if you were there, at that very moment again.
Candid images represent people that are relaxed, not stiff and awkward trying to pose certain ways. Relaxed people show their true personality and emotion. Those images are so much more meaningful.
For me it is important as a wedding photographer to blend into the events of the day. To not stand out or interrupt the organic flow of day. For people to forget that I'm taking photos.
