Privacy contact: luke@ljamesphotography.com.au
Depending on your interaction with us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, wedding or event date, venue and location, package preferences, and information you provide in messages or consultations.
For bookings, we may also hold contracts, invoices, payment and booking records, and photographs, video and audio captured while providing our services. Event images and recordings may include guests. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your booking.
We collect information directly from you through website enquiries, email, phone, consultations, booking documents, and Facebook or Instagram messages and enquiry forms. We also collect photographs, video and audio when covering your event.
When you submit a Meta enquiry form, the details you choose to submit are provided to us so we can respond. Meta also handles information under its own privacy policy.
We use your information to respond to enquiries, check availability, discuss packages, prepare quotes and contracts, manage bookings and payments, plan event coverage, and edit and deliver photographs and films. We may also use it to maintain business records, resolve concerns, and meet applicable legal obligations.
Submitting an enquiry allows us to follow up about that enquiry. If we send separate promotional communications, we will do so with the consent required by law and provide a way to opt out. You can also ask us to stop promotional messages by emailing the privacy contact above.
Client galleries are delivered through Pixieset. Gallery access and privacy settings depend on the arrangements for your booking. Please contact us if you need a gallery kept private or have concerns about an image or recording.
Any use of wedding photographs or films on our website, social media or advertising will follow the permissions agreed for your booking. We will honour agreed restrictions on promotional use. Please discuss privacy preferences with us before your event where possible.
We may share information with service providers where needed to operate our business or provide your services. These include website and gallery hosting, email and cloud storage, social media and advertising services, scheduling tools, and payment or accounting services where used. Our current tools include Pixieset, Meta, Metricool, google and Microsoft cloud storage.
We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law. We do not sell your enquiry details to other businesses.
Some service providers may store or process information outside Australia. Third-party services also have their own privacy policies describing their handling of information.
Our website and the services it uses may use cookies or similar technologies to operate features and remember preferences. Your browser settings allow you to manage cookies, although some features may be affected.
We store information in business records, devices, client-gallery systems and cloud services. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including appropriate access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to deliver services, maintain agreed client access, manage our business records and meet applicable legal obligations. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete it or de-identify it. Please ask us about the retention arrangements for your booking; this policy does not promise permanent storage of your photographs or films.
To request access to your personal information, ask for a correction, discuss an image or gallery, or make a privacy complaint, email luke@ljamesphotography.com.au. Tell us what your request relates to so we can locate the relevant records. We may need to verify your identity before providing information or making changes.
We will review your request and respond within a reasonable time. If we cannot fulfil it, we will explain why, subject to applicable law. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at https://www.oaic.gov.au to discuss whether it can assist.
We may update this policy when our services or information-handling practices change. The current version will be available on our website with its update date.
